Imperial Japanese Marine Sword JS7

Description

Japanese marine officer sword used during WW2. High quality marine dark brown lacquered wood scabbard. Two side button release on handle and scabbard. Dust cover seppa. Lacquered ito on 2 pin holes handle. Blade has unusual and nice boxy crispy hamon. Tang is nicely signed on both side. One side reads Gumma Imai Kanetsugu sake. He is one of the greatest and noted Showa period swordsmith. He produces only high grade hand forge blade which rated 1 million Yen in John Scott Slough's book. The other reads Showa 17th year(1942) February. Nagasa measures 26.25" and sword is 39.25" overall with 9.25" handle. Mount is in excellent condition.
